Advisor Questionnaire
Choosing someone to help manage your investments is tough. Most of those who hold themselves out as “financial advisors,” are nothing more than high commission salespeople. As soon as they close the sale with you, they are off to the next prospect.
How can you find the right advisor; one who knows his or her stuff, is required to act in you best interests, and charges reasonable fees? You need to ask some serious questions, but this can be really hard to do. Particularly when you are being approached by a family member, friend, or acquaintance (which is the norm in this relationship based business).
To help make it easier and less personal, we’ve created a simple two-page questionnaire that you can send to a potential financial advisor (or even your current one). Ask them to please fill it out and return it to you so that you can make an informed decision and avoid future misunderstandings. If they refuse or even balk at answering these questions that every investor needs answered, look for another advisor.
